we are proud to share with you our last publishing “FOLK LIFE IN UPPER EGYPT” (1978-1982) by Giovanni Canova part 1
thank you in advance for sharing this links with your friends..
The documentary shows some traditional agricultural work in Upper Egypt and the technique of kneading clay for the making of vases and jars, an activity that is still flourishing. Typical tools are the noraj, used for harvesting, the saqiya, a large cogwheel for irrigation set in motion by an animal, and the balance ‘ud (shaduf), used to draw up water from the canals. The monotony and fatigue of these activities are at times relieved by songs with traditional motifs: the lament for the hard life of the fellahin, their resignation, and their love-sickness.
